Meet Our Staff
Tim began as senior pastor of The Church On the Hill in July 2002. He resides in Winter Haven with his wife of 40 years, Cindy, and loyal YorkiePoo, Pebbles. Tim graduated with Special Distinction (3.8 GPA) from the Baptist College of Florida (formerly Baptist Bible Institute) in 1983 with a Bachelor of Ministry Degree in Biblical Studies.
Tim preached his first sermon in Davenport, Florida at the age of 18, and God called him to preach on April 22, 1979 at the age of 21. He was called as the pastor of his first church shortly thereafter in Colquitt, Georgia in 1980.
Over the years he has attended conferences and seminars led by notable men such as John McArthur, John Piper, R.C. Sproul, John Maxwell, Alistair Begg, and Adrian Rogers. His favorite authors include several of the aforementioned names, as well as Charles Spurgeon, J.C. Ryle, and select Puritan writers.
His greatest strengths and spiritual gifts are preaching and leadership. The church has grown significantly during the course of his ministry, and has gone from a single-staff situation to four full time ministry personnel and five part-time personnel.
In his spare time (“What is that?” he asked), Tim loves to work out with weights, play basketball, softball, and X-Box, go bass fishing and detail his vehicles. Tim is also an die-hard fan of the University of Alabama, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A native of Ohio, Jim moved to Florida after high school. He attended Clearwater Christian College and Warner Southern University. Over the last thirty years he has served as worship pastor in several churches in Central Florida and Ohio, and has sung with and played the piano for various professional groups.
Jim's interests include classic cars, biking, and traveling and he prides himself on being a connoisseur of any restaurant around.
Pastor Jerry and his wife of nearly 50 years come to us from the windy city of Chicago, IL. His objective in ministry is "To serve in a capacity that will glorify the Father and the Son." He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwest Baptist University and a Master of Divinity Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and numerous certified trainings both with the military and in Christian ministry. Thirty-five years in Pastoral Ministry (thirty-two of which were in two churches) and twenty-five years as a military chaplain have well-equipped Jerry for the position of Administrative Pastor. Included in his vast field of experience are beginning a Christian academy and school board and overseeing it as headmaster for several years, rewriting church constitutions & by-laws and church policies and procedures, forming and overseeing budgets for the churches he has served, as well as teaching military seminars and serving as a volunteer in many community organizations and events.
In his spare time he enjoys his children and grandchildren, classic cars and is quite the "handy-man".
Student Ministry Pastor
Troy Konemann is the pastor of our student ministry. He grew up in Columbia, South Carolina but came to Florida to study for a life in Christian ministry. He graduated from Warner University in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in church ministry with a youth and Christian education emphasis. After graduating, he played minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization for a few years and worked in several different areas of ministry including juvenile corrections, adolescent group homes, city recreation, other part-time and interim youth pastor positions. He is currently teaching in the public school system while serving in the church on a part-time basis.
He is married to his most exceptionally lovely wife, Tammy. They have four children, one of which is a ministry student at Baptist College of Florida. They also have one grandchild. Troy enjoys watching and playing most sports with the exceptions being hockey and lacrosse. He loves eating his wife's cooking and going to the gym for a workout (on occasion!).
He and his wife have identified the AFLAME acronym for our student ministry because they believe it covers all areas of the Christian life and should lead to great impact on our world for Jesus if applied faithfully.
